The digital geography is  in geographic coordinates, datum = NAD83, spheroid = GRS1980

Extent of the Lakes Digital Geography
Geography  provides digital data for the Lakes within the contiguous US.
The unprojected (geographic coordinates) Lakes Digital Geography for the coterminous United States.

Arc attributes found in the Lakes Digital Geography
PNMCD 11-digit Primary Name Code: All reaches of a given stream have been assigned the same name and the same primary name code. Other streams having that same name will have different primary name codes.
HR Unique 2-digit identifier for each hydrologic region.
EDASUBEDA The watershed in which the lake is primarily located.  A code assigned to each derived spatial area (e.g., an EDA or CDA).  Concatenated from the EDACDA attribute and SUBEDA attribute of NOAA's Coastal Assessment Framework.
REGION Region of the Coastal Assessment Framework.
N Polygons of the North Atlantic region.
M Polygons of the Middle Atlantic region.
S Polygons of the South Atlantic region.
G Polygons of the Gulf of Mexico region.
P Polygons of the Pacific region.
L Polygons of the Great Lakes region.
U Polygons within the US border, but not a part of the CAF.
X Polygons outside US boundaries.
NEW_RFTHIN An enhanced version of EPA's RFTHIN.  This attribute includes consistent NEW_RFTHIN values for the shorelines around lakes (reach type = L). It provides the capability to select a range of thinned, connected river networks that include lake shorelines.  Code which can be used to thin RF1
0 unnetworked reach
1 reach in the main networked path that connects catalog units or is the lowest level path in headwater catalog units.
2 tributaries to reaches with NEW_RFTHIN =1
3 tributaries to reaches with NEW_RFTHIN =2.
4 tributaries to reaches with NEW_RFTHIN =3
5 tributaries to reaches with NEW_RFTHIN =4
6 tributaries to reaches with NEW_RFTHIN =5
7 tributaries to reaches with NEW_RFTHIN =6
LAKE_NAME Lake Name was set to ‘OWNAME’ (Open Water Name). In cases where OWNAME was blank, NOS named the lake according to the county and state in which it was primarily located.
RIVER_NAME Lake reaches were assigned an associated River Name reflecting the river that flows through and out of the lake. All non-lake reaches were assigned a ‘NA’ (Not Applicable) for this variable.
LAKE_ORIG Origin of Lake, 'Original Lakes' are those derived from Type 'L' Reaches, those identified as 'Added Later' were determined to be Lakes/Reservoirs but were not declared a Type 'L' (Lake) in the original River Reach 1 file or came from the enhancing source (NOAA's CAF).
AREA_MI2 Area of polygon in square statute miles (calculated from geographies in Albers equal-area conic projection; minor distortion above and below standard parallels)
